About The Commons

The Commons is a learning community for ambitious professionals focused on Strategic Business Roles in Tech. We accelerate careers by combining upskilling + community + mentorship. What's different about The Commons is our emphasis on community & mentorship. The community is there beyond the specific Sprint (program) a member takes, and is highly engaged - active discussions, a ton of events, and private job opportunities. The Sprints are structured to simulate on-the-job training - members work directly with a mentor from a top tech company, so they can build tangible learnings and impactful relationships.

What we believe:

Careers are no longer static ladders to climb. They’re dynamic, non-linear and, in our humble opinion, 100x more exciting. Yet today’s education institutions are built for yesterday’s careers. What people need to learn and the way people want to learn, for successful careers in tech, is changing. Our model - combining project-based, mentor-led, community-driven learning - is leading this new wave in career-based education.

Where we’re at:

We’ve built a 1,000+ person global learning community of ambitious professionals in Tech, who learn & build connections through interactive learning experiences. We are VC-backed (investors like Eric Ries, Panache Ventures, top EdTech angels & VC firms), but also have a sustainable business model and have achieved product-market fit. We're now entering the next phase of our growth - scale - with ambitious revenue targets that you'll play a critical role in.

Where we’re going in 2023:

• Expanding the lifecycle of our members & scaling a highly engaged community: Our goal is to keep members consistently engaged with The Commons, through the community and additional learning experiences. Growth + Product go hand-in-hand here. We need to elongate the lifecycle of our members by providing them with consistent value over the course of their early-mid career. Our goal is to become the professional development membership of record for top tech talent 2-10 years into their career.
• Company partnerships**:** Companies send employees to join The Commons because of our unique learning model. A major focus for 2023 is building out a robust pipeline of company partnerships - ranging from a la carte to fully custom solutions. We want to become company's external L&D department.
• Sustainable growth: We’re a VC-backed company with a bootstrapped mentality. We will grow in a sustainable way in 2023 and beyond, and are looking for someone to help supercharge that growth.

The Role: Growth Manager

Your role and responsibilities

You’ll join a small but mighty 5-person team, reporting to Alex Palmer (Head of Growth).

The key aspects of your role will be:

1. Driving top of funnel growth
2. Managing our admissions cycle and nurturing potential members into enrollment
3. Actioning new initiatives to drive revenue growth including word of mouth (WOM) experiments, affiliate partnerships and more

These are core elements to our business’ success and you’ll be owning them. You’ll take on and scale what’s working, and get creative and scrappy to find new ways to grow. It’s a big and critical role for us.
